Man, I just absolutely love having short hair now because every morning I wake up with a different hairstyle by accident. It just depends how I sleep. First time it was really messy and scary-looking, ok fine, but the second time it was curly and wavy (maybe it’s ’cause I curled it, maybe) and now today, I resemble an adorable Japanese schoolboy.
Or Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka.

I went to the Payless shoe store today and the selection they had for women was surprisingly impressive. I ended up buying two pairs but pretty much got the second pair for free ($35 total). The first pair is full of sparkles and glitter (are you…surprised?), and it’s very comfortable. I don’t even know if I will ever get to attend an event where it requires you to wear shoes of sparkle and glitter, but goddamnit I’m going to find me a place and rock it.

As for the second pair, I don’t know what they’re really called but I guess they’re for people who think they’re sailors. The color is shiny and silver-gold, which is perfect because if it was too gold, I’d end up looking like a douchebag. And if it was too silver, I’d be walking in tin foil. I’m glad Payless knows their colors.

Yes, that was me towards the end of 2008, and if anyone says they miss the “old me” then I’d be terribly disappointed because I’d like to think that I’ve been evolving since. Lulz.
But still, it is a bit trippy to compare the differences from 2008 and today. Three years ago, I wore a lot of black and loose t-shirts of various zombie references and comic book characters. My hair was long and rarely brushed…well I still never brush my hair to this day so that hasn’t changed really. I didn’t wear a lot of makeup back then and I remembered looking kind of dirty most of the time. This year, I’ve been a lot more bright and colorful. I guess I just wanted to look more presentable and look like I actually shower, you know?
I think the biggest difference is–not the way I dress or how I act–but it’s the level of stress I have. I’m not sure why I looked grumpy in that 2008 picture, perhaps I was trying to look like a hardass or something, but it was probably one of the the funnest and easiest years of my life. Now that I’m almost turning 24, I’m in that really awful transition where reality just smacked me in the face: I’m an adult and I have to start acting like one, and time is flying waaaaaay too fast and I haven’t done shit yet. Great.
Anyway, this post isn’t about me whining about my personal life, it’s about remembering the good times (even though I’ve been known to bitch a lot back then) in 2008, so here a couple of favorite entries I’ve written (as an ungrateful kid):
My birthday is on November 17th, I repeat, my birthday is on November 17th. Here are the items you should really get me:
- Animal Pixel Painting — Woah, those deers are pixelated, how can anyone not buy this painting? Oh wait, they did, apparently it’s already been sold. Well there goes my wishlist.
- Cute Ass Dress — I really like dresses with the poofy ballerina-esqe skirts. Please buy this for me, thanks. I’m most likely a size small too.
- Punching Mouse — I play World of Warcraft therefore I need to play with a World of Warcraft mouse. My current mouse is very small and basic, this WoW mouse on the other hand looks like it’s made out of cold hard steel. Which means I can use it to punch people in the throat, nads, or ovaries if needed.
- New Computer, Preferably Pink & Tacky — My current computer sucks, everything is built into the monitor which means I cannot open it and remove parts. I need a computer with a much better graphics card because there are a lot of games out there that I either cannot play or I have to lower the quality setting. It’s truly heartbreaking, so please get me this too.
- Sunglasses — No questions, just do it.
- Another Cute Ass Dress — Do it now. Size small. You have my size, what are you waiting for?
- Orange Skirt — I like wearing bright and colorful outfits, but the one color I’m missing is orange. Can you please help me complete my rainbow wardrobe?
- A WoW Mount — I’m definitely gonna need a new mount.
