My work flew me to Orlando Florida this past weekend to work the booth at AFO for the first time. It was my first time going to an out-of-state convention and I’m glad I went because it’s just really different compared to the west coast conventions that I usually attend.

The main thing is everybody is just so damn nice and friendly here–including the volunteer staff, attendees and other dealers. Also, raving is a little more popular there that the convention actually hosted a rave after-party. On Saturday, during the first half of the convention, a lot of the kids dressed up in their anime cosplays, and then towards the last half of the day, a lot of them changed into their vibrant and bright raving attire. Boy did this seem a little foreign to me.

I’ve always posted pictures of other people’s cosplays but I think I should mix it up and post their rave clothing:

Woo, it’s a whole ‘nother world out there.

As for me, I wasn’t really interested enough to go. I went back to my hotel and took mirror pictures instead. Ahah.

I’m not into the rave scene either, but I feel like it’s a big deal at the bigger cons I go to. I see people lining up way ahead of time to get in. I see those outfits a lot too!

For a period and time there, it seems like the rave scene had died down, when Tiesto had retired and right before Armin… but suddenly, even where I am residing, the rave and dance scene seems to have come back ten folds more popular!
The EDC in the states were so popular that in our smaller cities here, they’re trying to have more of those here.
Quite a different world now from what I used to know… interesting to say the least. And you did exactly what I would have done…. gone back to my hotel room and take a mirror shot. :)
